Abu Dhabi-based investment manager BlueFive Capital has completed the acquisition of a 30% equity stake in Bugatti Rimac, the company behind the Bugatti supercar brand and the Rimac hypercar business, buying the holding from Porsche AG.

The deal makes BlueFive the second-largest shareholder in Bugatti Rimac after Rimac Group, and gives it a seat on the board, according to the company's own announcement. The transaction closed on 9 September after regulatory approvals, with Rimac Group retaining control.

Porsche divested its holdings in Bugatti Rimac and in parent company Rimac Group in a transaction reported at $1.16 billion, as the German carmaker narrows its portfolio.

For the UAE the deal fits a pattern that has become routine over the past two years: Gulf capital taking minority industrial stakes in established European brands rather than buying them outright. BlueFive has grown quickly from an Abu Dhabi base and now sits on the board of one of Europe's best-known performance car groups.
